EDF Research Network seminar on health inequalities

On 6 November 2012, the EDF Research Network held a seminar on health inequalities with Jessica Allen from the UCL Institute of Health Equity.

The seminar was chaired by Sandra Fredman QC, Rhodes Professor, Pembroke College, University of Oxford and EDF Research Network Co-chair.

Respondents were:

  • Shelagh Prosser, Equality and Diversity Practitioner and co-author of ‘The performance of the health sector in meeting the Public Sector Equality Duties (EHRC, 2011)
  • Kamaljeet Gill, Research and Policy Analyst at Runnymede Trust, which is piloting the Race Equality Scorecard project, enabling BME communities to assess local authority performance and outcomes in seven areas including health.
  • Marije Davidson, Policy and Research Manager at Disability Rights UK, EDF Trustee and EDF Research Network Steering Group member. Disability Rights UK has published an analysis indicating that the abolition of working age Disability Living Allowance will lead to higher NHS and social care costs.
